Our Mission

Our Mission is to provide high quality, professionally written, inspiring plays for a wide range of education, community, and professional theatre needs.

The play scripts on this site are written by professional playwrights and award-winning authors.

We are dedicated to helping theatre companies, community groups, senior entertainment groups and schools to find play scripts that exactly meet their needs and are we are available to give support and advice using email or by phone.

Havescripts

Plays published under the Havescripts imprint are written to cater to schools, community groups, seniors groups and care facilities, faith organisations, church and spiritual communities.

Playscripts for middle school and high school

Plays for teens will continue to be part of the HaveScripts legacy. We will continue to offer high-quality adaptations of Shakespeare, Chaucer, and Dickens. We have original scripts for teens which dramatize their concerns with drugs, suicide, sex, gender, and other issues along with plays that are just plain fun.

Plays For Kids

Our fairytales and legends continue to be one of most popular genres. Adaptations of Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty represent the most popular of the genre. We also have participatory dramas on all levels. Shakespeare-On-The-Go (a collection of 4 Shakespeare plays) can be participatory for youngsters. It also has a frame story involving a teen drama group enabling to be performed for or by teens or teen drama classes.

Plays for Seniors

Our short senior comedies are in demand by senior citizen communities across the country. Plays like Short-Shorts for Seniors provide entertainment and performance opportunities in assisted living facilities across the country. Other plays with elder casts are the ticket for older actors who still enjoy performing in theaters.

Blue Moon Plays

Blue Moon Plays champions new original scripts, for risky, contemporary theater. Play scripts published under the Blue Moon Plays imprint will either have had significant productions with material that has proven controversial or is off the beaten path. Some of these plays may present casting or staging challenges to theaters. In either case, they have not seen the number of productions they deserve and we are providing a home for them here.

We are also providing a resource for theaters looking for a play script that is quirky either by its content or its staging, but which is still in the development stage and looking for a Premier Production. There are other sites that offer playwrights a place to list new plays, but these plays have not been vetted.

Professional Play Development

Play scripts on our site will have had staged readings and have been through a development process. We are trying to take up where the Eugene O’Neill Conference leaves off and provide a resource for those worthy playwrights who for one reason or another need to look elsewhere for a theater interested in script development and production.

The plays that you will find on this site are meant to challenge you, bother you, and make you question some previous assumptions. On these pages, we intend to take no particular political stance or recognize orthodox boundaries. We hope that the plays you encounter under this label will make you realize just how far a theatrical experience can take you in space and time.

Plays About Contemporary Issues

Once in a blue moon, you find a play that transforms your life, makes you want to change the world, find the lover you lost on the boardwalk 20 years ago, feel outrage for the underdogs of the world, jump up and down with joy, wish you had been kinder to your sister, laugh until your sides ache. May you find that play on Blue Moon Plays.

Our comedies and dramas reach all audiences from high school seniors to seniors who are retired but ready to rumble. Our dramas open up contemporary issues: prejudice, ecology, violence. Our comedies, we hope, are laughable but prick us where we hurt. There are more blue moons out there in the sky than one would think.

Blue Moon Plays plans to be home to the new and unusual in theater. We want to represent edgy plays, particularly by new and emerging playwrights, that tackle the stage and theatrical concepts in new and different ways.

Unproduced Plays

We plan to combine the services of the play script agent and the play publisher by establishing a new relationship with playwrights; in fact, we see ourselves, when it comes to new and as-yet unproduced plays–or plays which have not found the audience they deserve–as more of a broker than a publisher.

We are looking for hot topics and off-the-wall staging to give theaters. especially educational, community, and semi-professional theaters– the opportunity to bring their audiences a memorable blue-moon experience.

Plays About Controversial Issues

Many of our Blue Moon Plays tackle topics that promote discussion.

  • Gender and Sexual Identification Among Teens
  • Prejudice and Anti-Semitism
  • African-American History
  • Mental Illness
  • Suicide
